JULLOUVILLE - seaside resort par excellence
The socio-economic development of Granville area has always been related with it seaside. Granville was one of the biggest cod harbours which lived during over four centuries at the rate of fishing compaigns to the shoals of Newfoundland and to Saint-Pierre et Miquelon. The Great Fishing decline began with the rise of inshore fishing and tourism.
Granville and its surroundings had so followed their development headed towards sea. In addition to the thousand rings of the marina built in 1975, a dry port and many boat slips offer an extra alternative to the boaters. At the heart of the highest spring tides in Europe, located between two remarkable places which are the Archipelago of Chausey and the Mont-Saint-Michel, Destination Granville Terre et Mer continues to cultivate its nautical image.
Sailing is reconized for its tourist and sports dynamism : the three-masted schooner Le Marité - the last witness of cob fishing, the Regional Center of Water Sports - Sailing French School of the year 2017, Manche Sailing Performance under the sporting guidance of Benoît Charon who has for a long time guided Norman young hopes on the Tour…
This is why the Communauté de Communes Granville Terre et Mer will welcome again in Jullouville, a step of the Tour 2019. Family seaside resort par excellence, Jullouville is particulary reconized for its long fine sandy beach and its mild climate. Living with the rythm of the tides, it favours bathing and water sports at high tide, shore fishing and beach games at low tide.
