Day 6, Fighting Fatigue?
July 11 th 2019 - 12:19
Day 6. Three days in Dunkirk, transfer, two days in Fécamp, transfer, coastal race in Jullouville. Today’s stadium races run later because of the tides – racing either side of high water means across the weakest flow – but fatigue is now starting to be evident among the 23 teams on the Tour Voile. They will be looking forwards to ‘rest’ day Friday before the weekend of racing at Act 4 in Les Sables d’Olonne.
So the Final will be around 1730-1745hrs and racing off the beautiful sandy beaches starts with qualifying from 1330hrs.
Winds continue to remain light at 6 to 10 knots flat seas sea and still sunny. Even though the tidal coefficient today is lower at 58, the currents are still strong in this area. Winners of the Raid yesterday, Team Beijaflore will be looking to go for the double and to extend their lead over their two closest competitors, Cheminées Poujoulat and Team Réseau IXIO - Toulon Provence Méditerranée. And the international team – EFG Private Bank of Monaco, Renaissance Services and Pink Lady will all be looking to follow up from their top 5 finishes here yesterday and all make the eight-boat final.
Twelve of the 23 teams have made the final so far….will there be new teams making the cut today?
