The Ecume de Mer, first witness of a great summer show
An optimistic character, Bernard Decré knew how to seduce and convince. One by one, he rented his Ecume boats, accepted delays. Regardless, the very first Tour de France à la Voile left Dinkirk for Menton, on July 1st, 1978 ; even crossing the Midi channel in 11 days. Street parties, majorettes, bands, farmer exhibitions and fine French food tasting: the spirit was unforgettable. Decré's gamble paid off and a new generation of French offshore sailors was born.

Bernard Decré chose the Ecume de Mer, the Boat of the Year in 1977, to sail the first edition of the Tour de France à la Voile in 1978.
