Done ! The tour for Nouvelle-Caledonie. Groovederci 4th and Oman sail's 5th
The two last race of the tour de france à la voile ended today in La Seyne sur mer did bring some changes to the overall ranking, but not to the top three. After yesterday’s cancellation nothing but a miracle could have prevent Bertrand Pace, skipper of Nouvelle Caledonie to win a seventh title.
Too much wind, too much speed : Race cancelled after two dismasting
It was supposed to be windy this last offshore leg from Marseille to La Seyne : but not that much. With 35 knots of wind and after two boats dismated, the race was cancelled to avoid more drama.
Good move for Groovederci in Marseille
The bay of Marseille offered a dramatic scenery for the three inshore that were run today. Good wind, good sun and good fun for two teams : TPM Coych and Groovederci.
The Med belongs to the meds
TPM Coych was the first to arrive in Marseille at the very end of the night. The Farr 30 fleet had to fight hard for the wind just dropped down when coming close to the city.
Marseille is not that far from Port-Camargue, just 65 milles away. But the crossing may be difficult for you have to sail all around the Rhone delta, called the Camargue where the sand banks stretched far away from the shore.
Winds of change- The Renaissance of Oman
Today, everything seems to be new on the Tour de France à la voile. The sea first, for we are in the med, the wind wich is still shifty but stronger than in the Atlantic and the teams that took advantage of theses changes to claim their new ambitions.
Bye bye Atlantic
The amateur Dutch boat Mummaduck did win the last regatta in the Atlantic right in front the overall leader Nouvelle-Caledonie. Now the boats are being trailed on the road to the Med.
Brilliant students - The am better than the pros
Only one inshore race today to escape the strong flood of the river Garonne at the peak of the tide. The young crew of Team SOG - Safran did really well, finishing first, just before Toulon-Provence-Méditerranée – COYCH.
Groovederci out of the night
What a suspens ! Strong tides and lack of wind makes the outcome of the last offshore race in Atlantic quite hard to predict. Who ever said that the art of sailing was like the art of war was right : the winner is the first who is able to adapt to any changes that may occurs. You had to be one of these warriors to get a good result in Royan.
Fighting for dignity
The two inshore races that were sailed in front of the harbour of Port-Bourgenay gave the opportunity to some of the favorites to express their ambition.
Pacé wants no second
Is Bertrand King Pacé becoming an ogre ? With this second in a row victory in a long distance race he appears to be in the strongest position to add a new title to his personal record.
Lights wind, big scores
The fleet left the harbour under the rain but came back with a bright sun. In between they had a very difficult inshore race.
Around the island- Hard day for the leaders
Was local knowledge any good for the race that took place today around the island of Groix? We may doubt about it. The first to cross the finish line was Brunel from the Netherlands and the third one was Mummaduck, also from Holland. In between was the TMP-Coych from the Med.
