Lights wind, big scores
The fleet left the harbour under the rain but came back with a bright sun. In between they had a very difficult inshore race.
The wind had gone with the sun. So it very quickly became quite tricky. Not for the winner, the dutch boat Mummaduck who stayed on the first place from the start to the end. "
We had a very good start explained skipper Laurent Pages, we wanted to have the left of the beat, wee have been quite aggressive and it works. We had a little more pressure and then we were able to cross in front of the fleet". It may seems to be quite easy listening to the winner but it was obviously rather hard. Even Bertrand Pace who finished second onboard Nouvelle Caledonie was unsure about wether the race comitee should have start the race or not. The third boat was Oman Sails Renaissance who was quite happy after his yesterday poor result. Smiles were also on Tu Delft sailors faces. They finished fifth. Along with Mamaduck, the two dutch boats came in the harbour loudly celebrating their results like a anticipated success of their national football team in the world cup.
Enough for the winners, the day was also a bad one for some of the leading boats. Ile de France was 23rd and Groovederci 24th. So far so good : the Tour de France à la Voile will now leave Lorient in Britany for Talmont in Vendée. The 100 milles offshore leg may be a rather long one if the weather forecast got it right.
